Jeju Seongsan Ilchulbong – A Gigantic Crown

seongsan_ilchulbong_001Rated as a World Natural Heritage by Unesco, Seongsan Ilchulbong is for you all the nature lovers out there. This gigantic crown like mountain was formed by volcanic activities and regarded as a holy mountain(Seong-san) by the local since many years ago. In fact the locals at the old days bow 4 times towards it as they passed by. Be early if your hotel is far away like mine(at Jungmun). If took us almost more than an hour drive because there are just too many speed traps on Jeju island. After I parked my rented car, I can’t see the mountain is actually in a con shape(bird view) as described. :P

Jeju Hallim Park with 3 Jeju plenties – Wind, Stones and women

Situated at Hallim near to Jeju-si, Hallim Park is a huge well-maintained botanical garden right at the Geumrueng beach. You could get the know the latest events and exhibition at it’s official site here. We went on 23 May 2011 which is the end of Spring seasons in Jeju. Of course we missed the chance to see the cherry blossom garden because of this :( Moreover, the time we we there was very windy. Wind – is the first ‘plenties’ in Jeju. Since it’s just next to the beach, there are hardly any obstacles that blocking the sea breeze. Walking pass the palm trees avenue made us worry that some rotten leaves would fell on our head :) because the palm trees were swinging vigorously.

There are 2 similar theme park of this kind in Jeju island. I was no different from other travelers that hope to visit as much destinations as possible! However, all optimistic travelers have no choice but to give a some places in their plan a miss due to time constraints ^^  As you can see, the pics on the right it the main entrance of Soingook, means I had give  ‘Jeju Mini Mini Land’ a miss! As the name suggest, Jeju Miniature theme park houses a lot of the world and Korea’s famous architectures and many more. Suites Hotel in Jeju

Suite Hotels situated in Jungmun Resort at Seogwipo-si. It’s about an hour drive from Jeju airport. We booked the room thru Agoda booking site online which cost us MYR 1,345.83 (USD 432.52) for 4 nights stay. The room amenities is nice and hence we get what we paid for. I read some people mentioned there are better choices nearby but for me it meets my expectation with the price we paid for a 5 stars hotel. The only drawback is air conditioner seems not strong enough which contradict to the windy and cooling weather outside. Look at the photos I took at the hotel for details. >>> More…

LCCT > Incheon > Gimpo > Jeju

Arrival at Seoul Incheon Airport We went to Seoul from LCCT by AirAsiaX and reach Incheon Airport at 9:25pm(Korea timezone). We plan to take a local flight (Eaststarjet)(Departure:66,900won – Return:57,900won) heading to Jeju island right the next early morning. However, the local flight departed only at Gimpo Airport which is 30mins train journey away from Incheon airport.

The earliest Arex train started at 5:30am and the flight we book departed at 8:05am. Eastarjet required passenger to check-in at least 40 minutes before the departure time. We wonder how are we going to spend the night at Incheon airport before heading to Gimpo airport the next early morning with our huge luggage! I found this hotel online which is near to Incheon airport named ‘Incheon Airport Guest House‘. At the price of KRW 50,000(RM140.73) per night for a double room >>> More…

Driving in Jeju

Road scenery near mount HallasanIf you plan or interested to visit Jeju island on your own, I will strongly recommend you to rent a car and drive it on your own. Before myself going to this island, I’ve done some research online and found out that public transport is not as convenient since it’s a island. At first, I was considering renting a bike but after I found out that the price of renting a bike is almost the same as renting a car, of course a car is the best pick. Moreover, i went during a rainy season(end of May).

Hey, is that the water chalet that people mentioned about? Chalet above the sea now is getting more and more popular.
